Air Jordan 4
The Performance and Pop Culture Star
The Air Jordan 4, also designed by Tinker Hatfield, came out in 1989. Building on the success of the AJ3, the AJ4 improved performance and introduced new design elements that made it stand out. Key features include the "wings" or "lace support straps" on the side for better stability, mesh netting on the side panels, and a visible Air unit. Michael Jordan famously wore the AJ4 when he made "The Shot" against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1989 NBA Playoffs, further cementing its place in sports history. Beyond basketball, the shoe became a pop culture icon, appearing in Spike Lee's movie "Do the Right Thing," which boosted its popularity. Colorways like "Bred," "White Cement," and "Military Blue" are highly sought after and remain fan favorites.
